Halloween is a time for fun, laughter, and a little fright—but your health shouldn’t be one of the scares! Between trick-or-treating, decorating, and keeping up with kids or grandkids, accidents and aches can creep up faster than a ghost in the dark.

Here are a few Halloween safety tips from Advanced Rehab and Medical to help keep your spine (and the rest of you) feeling great:

1. Watch Your Step

Trick-or-treating often happens after dark, and uneven sidewalks, wet leaves, or hidden holes can quickly lead to sprains or falls. Be sure to wear supportive shoes and bring a flashlight to stay safe while walking.

2. Lift Little Monsters Carefully

Whether you’re carrying your grandkids or helping them with heavy candy bags, always bend at your knees—not your waist. Keep items close to your body to protect your back and prevent strains.

3. Avoid Overreaching While Decorating

Stretching too far to hang cobwebs or reach that perfect spot can pull muscles or cause shoulder pain. Use a sturdy step stool and take breaks as needed.

4. Balance the Treats

A little candy is fine—but too much sugar can spike inflammation and sap your energy. Balance it with water, protein, and plenty of movement.

5. Listen to Your Body

If you wake up sore after Halloween fun, don’t ignore it! Our integrated team at Advanced Rehab and Medical can help you recover quickly and prevent long-term pain.

This Halloween, stay safe, move smart, and enjoy the fun—without the fright of back pain!
